Many heavy hearts were mourning today when news broke that 20 pigeons have been donated by a farmer for our communal pot. It would be fair to say that controversy took wing. One testimonial made through tearful eyes was from F.E. Athers who said - "Young Derek had shown such promise as a sporting pigeon in the Pigeolympics last month in China, it's a real shame. He was at the top of his sport having flown through the heats to be right up there at the top of the pecking order. "
The farmer was quoted as saying "I wont get my feathers ruffled over this one, I'm glad they serve some use"
Pictured is "Derek" sporting his number 648 in China... "Simon" and "Dave" 458 and 326 were also reported as shot, as was number 7 "Lucky" at the back of this shot.
